2nd Annual Golf Tournament

Kawasaki Kids Foundation is hosting their 2nd Annual Golf Tournament at Ptarmigan Country Club sponsored by Delta Disaster Services of Northern Colorado.

The tournament will be held on July 13, 2015 at 11 AM. Everything will kick off with a meet and greet for team members on July 12th and will end with a live auction and dinner on the night of the 13th. There are 36 teams participating for a scramble play at the well-known Ptarmigan course designed by Jack Nicklaus. “Kawasaki Disease is a rare heart disease that I knew nothing about until my customer and now coworker’s son Cooper was diagnosed. Since then I have learned about the disease and how deeply it affects those involved. I am participating in the golf tourney to support Cooper and the Kawasaki Kids Foundation as they continue to spread awareness,” mentioned Dan Freismuth owner of Topshelf Embroidery and Screen Printing in Greeley. All kids affected (their families as well) with Kawasaki Disease are welcome to come putt around from 9 AM to 9:45 AM on the 13th.

Kawasaki Kids Foundation raises funds to put towards education, research and family support for Kawasaki Disease. Working directly with Dr. Pei-ni Jone from Children’s Hospital Colorado the foundation is able to help families all over the nation with Dr. Pei-ni Jone heading research efforts in the state. Over 4,200 kids get diagnosed every year with this rare disease and without diagnosis within a 10 day period kids face a lifelong struggle with serious heart problems. Kawasaki Disease is the leading cause of acquired heart disease in children. The golf tournament is one of the main fundraising events for the foundation. Shawn Logan the foundation’s executive director said, “As a father of a young child suffering from Kawasaki Disease (KD), I am reminded daily of the importance of the Kawasaki Kids Foundation. My son Cooper suffers from a coronary aneurysm and kidney failure all due to Kawasaki Disease. Cooper takes 15 doses of medicine a day to stay alive. As a father I knew I had to do something to help kids get diagnosed earlier and give the parents resources to fight this terrible disease. Our family started the Kawasaki Kids Foundation to find a cure for KD, educate the public as well as medical professionals and support families dealing with the unknowns of KD. If caught early this disease can be treatable and the child will not have a lifetime of heart problems. I am dedicated to saving one child’s heart at a time!”
