Aubrie's Story
My daughter, Aubrie was 2.5 when she spiked a fever that we just could not break. It lasted over 5 days and we brought her into the doctors multiple times. We were told it was anything from an ear infection to “kids just get sick”. We finally brought her to Children’s Masonic Hospital in St. Paul, MN. There, her blood was taken & her inflammation markers were high. A doctor previously had mentioned Kawasaki’s but had said she only had the one symptom, continuous fever. After 6 long days of sickness we just could not break, we finally got our diagnosis of atypical Kawasaki’s disease. She received treatment that night of IVIG, which broke her fever but she ended up having an allergic reaction to & caused a rash from head to toe. It didn’t seem to bother her & it was our answered prayer to finally help Aubrie feel better.
Misdiagnosis?
Ear infection, random virus
Current Conditions
Healthy & no signs of damage to her heart. We’re so grateful for our team of doctors and the infectious disease team at Children’s Masonic.
