Landon's Story
At age 4, Landon became ill with her high fevers. I brought him in after a couple of days and could not get his temp lower then 102 degrees. We were told it was viral and had to wait it out. 3 day went by and he was not making any improvement and his fever continued to spike. I brought him back in and again was told it was viral and he should be getting better soon. Later that evening his hands and feet were swollen so badly and his lips were so cracked they were bleeding. His eyes were bright red and he had a rash over his entire body. His tongue was bright red and also swollen. I brought him back in to urgent care. They made me feel like I was over reacting since he had been seen that morning. There was a peds doctor on call that came in the room and looked at his symptoms and immediately diagnosed him. I will be forever grateful for her and she is now his current pediatrician. He was then hospitalized and given IVIG treatments. He was in the hospital for 4 days. After being released his hands and feet were peeling and he began losing toenails and fingernails. He was on aspirin for 6 months and has had regular echocardiograms. He is now 7 and has made a full recovery.
