Sebastián's Story
Hi everyone I am Sebastián mom and I will like to share our KD story, he is was 4 months when diagnosed.
We are from Texas and we went on road trip to Florida, we were on our last week when Sebastián started with fevers on a Tuesday, took him to ER in Florida they did several tests, they said he was a very healthy baby, so we decided to come back to Texas because we knew something was off.
So on our way here next day Wednesday we took Sebastián to Mobil Alabama Pediatric Hospital he was getting worse, he had his lymph nodes around the neck extremely big he couldn't turn his head, they did x-rays, and many other tests they said he was looking good and healthy, he was NOT looking good at all, chapped lips, high fevers that won't come down, I was afraid was meningitis. We Thursday night we got home, and Friday morning we were at Mclane Children's Hospital at Temple Tx. As soon as we entered they knew something was wrong and we got admitted thinking of meningitis, he hot treatment but wasn't working he was worst then at 1 a.m Doctor Tess came in and ask my permission to treat him with IVIG for kawasaki and high dose of aspirin. (I had no idea what was kawasaki other than a motorcycle 😄) And then she started explaining and I got so scared, obviously I agreed and next day he stared sleeping, and eventually getting better. He was diagnosed with a. Meningitis, kawasaki, sepsi and dehydrated several days later we got released. Next day at home, his left side arm and leg stopped working, it was very loose no strength at all so we got admitted back they were thinking of a brain stroke, and the liver enzymes were crazy high.
They did all tests possible, they did 3 MRIs one of them a sedation for 3 hours, blood test and no medicine was working, so after a few days they reduced the aspirin doses to the minimum and the enzymes stared coming down and and his left side staring moving on a 5%. Now after 3 weeks we are home, and he is getting better and better, we have our first next appointment with cardiologist in 2 weeks, praying everything looks good.
Nobody will understand what we as a family went through only the ones who went through the same.
So I show all my love and support, and for sure donations to this disease, so no one will go through all this.
